“Youth leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room.
It’s about being the person who notices gaps—and chooses to respond.
You’ve seen in earlier topics that persons with disabilities can face life-threatening barriers when systems are not inclusive.
Youth can help close these gaps by:
- spotting when information is inaccessible
- checking if community plans include everyone
- ensuring drills and warnings reach all abilities
- raising concerns when something is unsafe or exclusionaryLeadership begins with awareness, but grows through initiative.
Even small improvements—like clarifying instructions, simplifying evacuation steps, or supporting a friend during a drill—already build inclusive resilience.”
