“Our countries — the Philippines, Indonesia, and Laos — face multiple hazard types.
In the Philippines alone:
- We are located along the Pacific Ring of Fire and the Western Pacific typhoon belt.
- Around 60% of land area is exposed to multiple hazards.
- About 74% of the population is vulnerable to their impact.
Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes and tsunamis.
Laos faces floods, storms, and challenges in remote evacuation.
But remember:
A hazard becomes a disaster when people are not prepared or included.
This is where disability inclusion becomes not just important — but life-saving.”
